The Clinch River Spring Antique Fair is held annually on the First Saturday in May. The next Fair will be held on May 5, 2012. Over 100 Antique Dealers come to Clinton’s Historic Downtown to present a fantastic Antiques and Collectibles Show. Representing more than 7 States, the antique dealers line Market Street and its side streets and alleys. The Fair is held from 9 am – 5 pm, rain or shine and is one of the best one-day antique shows in East Tennessee. An antique car show and antiques appraisals are also featured during Saturday’s Fair. On Friday evening May 4, 2012, there will be a kick-off party from 6 pm – 9 pm with food and entertainment in the park at the gazebo on Market Street. This year;s entertainment will be Wendy Crowe and High Kotton Band, a bluegrass band formed of five remarkable backgrounds of talent will knock your socks off. High Kotton is fastly becoming a well known band in Knoxville. High Kotton’s reputation far exceeds the performances they’ve done together.
Band members Wendy Crowe (vocals), Tim Harbin (vocals/guitar), Amanda Thomas (vocals/fiddle/mandolin), Jeff Tolson (bass), and Will Tate (banjo/mandolin) together make up over 100 years performing around the South. The five together create an explosion of chemistry; which creates an incredible harmony and blend.
High Kotton’s smooth mixture of traditional bluegrass favorites to originals; grab the audience’s attention. Their outstanding performance at WDVX’s Blue Plate Special was standing room only. Just two weeks after starting the band they played WDVX’s Wild Wing Cafe Bluegrass night and stunned audience with their overall talent. High Kotton is just beginning to reach new heights.
Clinton’s 18+ antique shops remain open for late night shopping and horse-drawn wagon rides in the Downtown Historic District provided by River Ridge Farms add to the festivities. During Fair weekend, the antique shops will all be open for Sunday shopping from 1 pm – 5 pm for those folks who want to shop in a “less crowded” atmosphere or to be able to pick up the larger items that they purchased on Saturday.
